It’s horrifying especially to think how Reddit never did anything about the fucked up things incels would say they wanted to do to underage girls and women, or the literally jailbait, racist, insanity they’d share. Basically that stuff was always okay, but if you want to defend yourself against your oppressor? Banned for upvoting despite you didn’t even think the comment was “bannable”.

Does saying “The only good fascist are really dead fascist” counts? What if I add that USA is a fascist country now? Will saying Donald is a pedophile still counts (I got banned for it already lol)? What about saying my favorite sport is nazi punching? And if I had that there’s no such thing as “roman salute”? Is Reddit about to drop a new t-shirt line “Protect fascist’s feeling” or something?

You mean if someone said something like, “Trump and Epstein raping a 13-year-old is a matter of court record.”?

Same, in January, I said something to the line of traitors used to be publicly hanged, now they’re elected and got banned for it. That was the last straw, came here right away and was happy to find the place striving compared to last time I tried it.

Yes, this is the exact mentality.

I got banned yesterday for basic “Eat the Rich” quotes with the occasional Luigi or Guillotine animated gif thrown in here or there.

Reddit is cracking down on anticapitalists for sure.

Got in trouble for saying in reply to an “eat the rich” comment that they should be fed to something instead

I register on reddit 17 years ago. Before the great migration from digg. I remember /r/programming being the first sub to reach 100k subscribers.

I got banned for saying in the /r/europe sub that russia banning youtube in russia was a good thing because then we in the west would get less russian propaganda. Got banned for a couple days. Left and never looked back.

/r/programming is dead already since around a decade. All the good discussions moved to hackernews and lobsters.

Finally made the permanent switch over to Lemmy. I left a link in the Reddit Safety post so anyone else could convert easily.

It’s an absurd overreach to say the least; good riddance to the corpo-bot platform.

Everybody upvote Luigi content! Get banned! Leave reddit! Reddit crumbles! Fuck reddit! Go Luigi! Lemmy grows! Centralized social media dies! I eat a burrito. That last one wasn’t really on topic, but it’s happening anyways! I’m hungry.

not surprising, on another site/forum where reddit users got banned for upvoting in attempt to mimic human activity on reddit to promote thier of accts later down the line, thats whats been happening. they are using some technical tricks trying to get around these bans, but reddit is quickly closing those gaps, thats why thier bans have been so aggressive lately. they overmoderate, and overbanned recently.

It’s okay, we’ll all be able to go back to Digg soon.
