Hello all! I’m Rose. Also a Fediverse chick. Unlike Nicole I don’t spam people. Also I’m not on Friendica (not many people are) and you probably shouldn’t add me as a friend on any Fedi platform because I’m a hella boring nerd.
Hi! I’m John, but you can call me the fediverse dude. Unlike nicole and Rose, I don’t claim to be someone i’m not! Please add me on all platforms, I crave attention!
(Sorry Rose, I need this)
Now we’re talking!
I am interested.
How do I send money to you?
Sheesh, at least buy them a drink or something first, you don’t have to jump straight to brass tax
added!
What kinda nerd?
It seemed pretty out of left field. Like, okay… I’m not clicking on any of that. No explanation of why someone would message me this and as I expected, it seems to have been some sort of widespread spam.
Seriously, y’all need to stop doing the spammers work for them by reposting it
Don’t dog on my girl Nicole ahahaha
How are we supposed to be aware of the potential scams if they don’t post it though?
If that’s the reason, one can blur out the links and shit. But this is fairly obvious, and also it’s all over lemmy constantly giving free advertisement to the spammer
me :3 I’ve fallen hard
You know, I’ve seen so many people getting these messages… I never got any though… Not even spambots want me sigh
When the cost to try something is virtually zero, you don’t have to try very hard. If only one in ten thousand people will fall for a scam, then millions of attempts will still get you thousands of successes.
Theres no millions to message though. Some of the accounts are the same people, just jumping servers to fine one that works for them.
I don’t think there is a million people here
Then you have to try multiple times per person, easy.
Got 3 of these messages already. My client doesn’t delete them. So they are stacking up.
I only got one :(
Still at zero :( I’m not sure if I should be thankful or insulted
Same.
Same.
For what it’s worth, your username is really smart
I’m pretty sure Joe does.
No, I don’t
Not you Joe, dat other Joe!
Fine, I’ll play along
Joe who?
Joe Mama! XD
Joe mama who?
I got this message on my mastodon account, thought it was weird and just ignored it
Has anyone followed the links to see what the deal is?
My uninformed guess is the person posting this is NOT the person in the picture.
Most likely, it’s some weirdo’s bizarre roundabout way of harassing whoever’s picture this is.This makes sense to me because why else would they keep creating the same exact account on every instance and sending the exact same message?
If you click ln the socials she shares, she is active there and seems to match the profile picture with the content she uploads.
That’s a totally different angle and I hate it. You need to be a special kind of jerk to post someone else’s picture in a spam message.
If you think about it: have you ever gotten a picture of the spammer itself in an spam message
Yup. This is 100% the case. Either it’s a stolen image simply used for scamming, either it’s a harrasment technique.
Frankly I’m kinda amazed that apparently most people thought that was really her spamming everyone.
I don’t think they did. They didn’t consider that it’s someone harassing her though. Most people have only considered it spam/scam, not something targeting whoever she is.
I never considered this, and I hope it’s not true.
Remarkably pedestrian photo for a scam. And 29yo seems old for a fantasy girl too.
I guess they understand that it’s older guys who have the money, and even those guys know they’ll never make it with an 18yo.
Gotta love Nicole
Hi im the fediverse money please!
Everyone knows there are no girls on the internet
Stupid question maybe but what’s the goal of this scam? The URLs seem safe, is the goal to convince us to send money to her?
Might be just someone wanting to highlight an architecture issue that allows someone to spam everyone.
It’s almost certainly a pig butchering scam
be wary of any man who has a pig farm.
eh bricktop?
