Hmm you’re right sorry, I don’t know the specifics of e.g. your comment in this case, but it is frustrating when information is shared publicly, that might be of interest to someone, but the language used creates a larger barrier than needed 😕 And having a translator tab open in my browser just to translate every comment and post I read on the Internet one-by-one is not feasible. (I know e.g this is just one comment, but I’m talking about the bigger picture in general)

(In any case, thank you everyone for engaging in the discussion I started! I didn’t expect so many answers 😅)

  • Δηλαδή θέλεις να μου πεις ότι εσύ όταν είσαι στο Διαδίκτυο κάθεσαι και κάνεις αντιγραφή-επικόλληση κάθε πράγμα που βλέπεις σε υπηρεσίες μετάφρασης;

  • For emulators:

    • L4-R4 select save state slot, L5-R5 save/load
    • Not back buttons, but: Select + A/B/X/Y for Ctrl-Q, F11, etc

    In general:

    • Press R4 to start pressing A every 500ms so e.g. it picks the next level and various confirmation popups automatically
    • Press L4 once to keep another button pressed, e.g. R1 in racing games

I don’t remember any others off the top of my head, but the gist is that when I’m annoyed by some weird specific input I start fiddling with Steam input for a few minutes to try and make it work more easily 😅

  • But that is my point: downvoting the news will not keep people from using it; the people who will want to use it will find it anyway.

In any case, people still want to be aware about it, especially the people who disagree and downvoted it, so they should have upvoted instead, in order to have a proper discussion about the issue they supposedly care about.

Trying to bury it in downvotes to make it disappear from “Hot” does the exact opposite.

  • Wow, so many downvotes probably from people hating the news, this is not what the downvote button is for.

It’s about if a post or comment contributes or triggers interesting and engaging discussions.

Specifically for news articles, I find it important to upvote if I’m glad the article was posted at all, since it helps raise awareness about an issue etc, or if I probably wouldn’t have found the article posted on another platform, so maybe I wouldn’t have learned about it at all.

Even if it’s fake news, it’s better for me to be aware that misinformation in being spread about the issue, with people in the comments explaining why it’s fake with sources etc.

The upvote/downvote button is not a change.org petition for making a problem go away by disagreeing with it.

I used Aramex’s shop&ship (both times), I found them from Courier Center’s website.

The cost was a bit much, but nothing compared to the laptop itself (and also I really didn’t want to buy yet another laptop that in a few years would be obsolete and unrepairable).

The laptop’s order shipping was €70 and it took ~10 days after it arrived at their location. You can compare the shipping cost to/from various countries, my DIY package was 4.5kg

Edit: just a few days after making this comment, I received an email from Framework that they started shipping to Greece, among other countries!

  • Just leaving this here in case you don’t know: there are also the Framework laptops, which are designed to be modular, upgradable, and have easy to buy replacement parts.

They even sell motherboards, so you can now get a e.g. Intel Core Ultra motherboard for your 3-4 year old laptop.

Of course It’s a bit more expensive than a used 10 year old Thinkpad, but it kind of competes with other high end laptops, and it is cheaper especially when you consider it’s designed to last more

(Not a sponsored post, just glad there is a company that makes such products, and that when I broke a part I could just go to their store and order a replacement instead of searching for serial numbers on random online stores etc like I’ve done before)
