  • Tbf, people should have moved on from Instagram/Facebook from years ago tbh, esp as there are decent, ethical alternatives out there but as usual, people don’t really care unless it affects them personally or their social rep.

The fact that people are flocking over to RedNote, Lemon8, Tumblr, Bluesky and other platforms, despite them being problematic either due to privacy issues/ceos stances on political issues like trans rights etc or the techbros involve want to destroy the environment, proves the point itself.

The people that are moving out of TikTok etc are literally making no difference to stopping the rise of fascism, besides making themselves feel better about themselves about the whole thing.

  • Honestlyyyyy and yet when I speak about actually ethical alternatives, ppl then be like nah cba, too difficult, too much effort or too complicated when it only takes five mins or less to make an account and yet these same god damn ppl expect you to always listen to them.

We honestly truly live in a society.

People only want to make a difference if it only gives them good social points, not actual change or things that enable for them to actually think critically and change their viewpoints.

Feels pretty hopeless tbh esp as this is only the beginning of 2025 as well but hey at least there’s some logical people on here (though you do get the occasional dumbass on lemmy/mbin)

  • I’ve worked as a bar staff member/bartender so kinda similar role and I always found it super respectful, considerate and convenient when people tidied themselves up esp as our job is constantly on the go and so often, esp in busy hours, it’s practical impossible to be fully tidy in those hours and so it really does make our job so much easier when customers do that esp as in my job, I often have to deal with seriously difficult customers and stuff, which can make things super time consuming and straight up annoying esp as other customers are waiting as well to be served.

  • Mine is……

    1. Wafrn (endless customisations unlike Misskey and Sharkey) and has react buttons too with extra features such as anonymous questions etc. Basically Tumblr but way better and FOSS too.

    2. Mastodon, very stable, great way to find out current events with minimal reactive posts etc. It just works.

    3. Mbin, a very much more stable and regularly fork of kbin, and getting the best of both worlds without having to use Lemmy, due to the problematic nature of Lemmy creators.

    4. BookWyrm, ethical version of GoodReads (and gives you control to add books that are not on the system, enhancing your experience and overall much better than GoodReads imo.

  • I refuse to support a corporate platform, whilst also adding nothing new to the agenda as well to make me want to go on Bluesky, so therefore I’m sticking with Mastodon/Fedi atm. Much more ethical that way.

Also much more fun and positive too with liked minded people on there too (except the Israel/Palestine stuff, which seems to be super divisive for some odd reasons in which it really shouldn’t be controversial at all but I digress tbh)

Also a way to say “fuck you” to Jack Dorsey too, who has ruined the internet, thanks to him tbh lol despite not being part of the Bluesky board anymore.
